Social-supportive (Helper)
Supporting, explaining, moving people forward. This direction points to education, care & therapy or social work — fields with clear training routes and demand that isn’t going away.
Enterprising-persuasive (Driver)
Persuading, organising, getting things moving. Here you find sales, management or founding your own thing — fields that hand you responsibility early if you ask for it.
Organising-structured (Organiser)
Structuring, planning, keeping the overview. This direction leads to finance, law & administration or logistics — fields with dependable training routes and clear steps up.

Grounded in research: RIASEC — and what we built on top of it
The foundation is the RIASEC model developed by psychologist John Holland — one of the most thoroughly researched models in vocational psychology. Its core idea: job satisfaction emerges when interests and work environment fit together. Career services worldwide work along the same six directions; module 1 captures them with 48 statements on a 7-point scale, modelled on the O*NET Interest Profiler.
When you’re just starting out this matters even more: you have no work history to be measured against — but your interests are already there and remarkably stable. So the compass starts there and adds working style, work values and self-image in modules 2–4. Field matching runs against a curated catalogue using fixed, versioned rules — the same answers always lead to the same recommendation, and every recommendation backs its reasons with your own scores.
As its occupational vocabulary the Career Compass uses the European Commission’s ESCO classification — the EU’s multilingual reference for occupations and skills. That way your recommendations carry the names employers, career services and job boards actually use. And to be straight with you: the Career Compass offers orientation, not career counselling and not aptitude diagnostics. It shows you reasoned directions — deciding and setting off remains yours.
Frequently asked questions
Quite the opposite: interests are already well formed at that age, and the earlier you know the direction, the calmer the choices around internships, subjects and application deadlines become. The compass doesn’t lock you into anything — it shows directions that fit what genuinely interests you today. If that changes, take it again.
